Technical Program Management Director

Technical Program Management Director, Product, Rally

Role Summary:

As the Technical Program Management Director for Rally.io, you will own schedule and scope for our four contracted engineering teams. You will be the primary point of contact for the Program and Project Managers at our external teams and will own release coordination, sprint management and release quality. You will partner very closely with the VP of Product and VP of Engineering, forming the third component of the Product and Engineering leadership team. Since Rally is a fast moving company in an innovative space, you will need to focus on pushing execution speed forward while maintaining the quality standards required for a company that deals in large financial transactions. 

The ideal candidate is an experienced program manager with an engineering background and interest in crypto innovations. A background in games or other digital economies is a bonus. As Rally is a nimble and focused project with an emphasis on decentralization, this role will need to be comfortable with shifting between directing outsourced vendors, developing the capabilities of those teams, ensuring releases are high quality and accelerating our release cadence.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with stakeholders, product managers and engineers to ensure that customer and product requirements are translated to the technology solutions that subsequently drive the execution (planning, coordination, management and testing) of software development from design through successful deployment.

  • Work with cross functional teams – technology, business, marketing and operations to manage multiple projects that have conflicting needs / priorities, using an Agile development framework, from concept to launch.

  • Organize the efforts of diverse engineering teams across geographies, languages and timezones. 

  • Support and align multiple external development teams with a range of existing project management capabilities.

  • Communicate project risks, progress, launches and retrospectives across all stakeholders and teams – consistently and transparently with an emphasis on executive level communication.

  • Strive constantly to improve and establish a new bar in quality (using objective metrics) in project execution.

  • Balance the competing priorities of a) a rapidly evolving space, b) a live service with active customers, c) the risk of financial fraud, d) new product development and e) tech debt.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field.

  • 6+ years of experience within software.

  • 3+ years of experience managing agile software projects.

  • Curiosity about crypto and its real world problem solving applications.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Data Analyst

Responsibilities

  • Design SQL scripts to directly query and analyze internal and external data sources to package together clear, actionable findings

  • Own the design of advanced analytics dashboards and KPI reports in our BI tool starting from requirements gathered across teams to the delivery of final, polished reports in production

  • Collaborate with payment and fraud ops, product, and customer ops to support their analysis and data needs

  • Grow to serve as the team’s subject matter expert for advanced analytics and report design, offering insights and suggestions on what potential problems the team should be solving

  • Provide timely, valuable solutions for ad hoc analyses via SQL with detailed focus on crafting scripts that can be easily manipulated to efficiently address similar future analyses

  • Monitor key performance metrics and use results to help the team increase efficiency and provide high-quality support

  • Be a data evangelist, working across the company to understand how our data outputs affect different groups and identify areas where our team can provide additional value

Basic qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in an analytical role with a heavy focus on querying data, analyzing and clearly presenting analyses to stakeholders across the organization

  • Expert SQL skills and data modeling

  • Ability to think strategically, formulate appropriate analytical solutions, and execute in order to solve business needs

Fraud Analyst

Responsibilities

  • Review user transactions, sidechain activity, and bridge outs for potential fraud

  • Monitor and escalate suspicious activity associated with AML and work with the team to ensure regulatory compliance 

  • Analyze behavioral patterns to detect Terms of Service violations and fraud patterns, and propose process improvements to stop similar activity 

  • Iterate on innovative ways to reduce risk given user profiling, and make recommendations on rule adjustments within fraud tools

  • Research transactional and customer records to link unidentified transactions and accounts to known fraudulent activity

  • Manage suspensions and associated user communications

  • Support the risk team in various initiatives and ad hoc projects as assigned


Basic qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience investigating customer transactions and behaviors

Lead Software Engineer, Platform

SUMMARY
As a Lead Software Engineer on Platform you will lead overall back end development. You
will work closely with our software architect on architecture and technologies. You will be
working with remote dev teams and qa teams both in house and through vendors.
You will also ensure effective communication between product and engineering and help
push forward best engineering practices across the teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and
    debugging of customer issues with tools like DataDog and Bugsnag etc.

  • Drive best engineering practices within the team(s)

Director of Quality Assurance

SUMMARY:
As a Software Development Director in Test, you will lead overall test strategy across multiple product incubation verticals in several technology areas including web, mobile, and API services, etc. You will own QA for web and mobile products and work with a remote dev team and qa team in house and through QA vendors.

You are an expert in a variety of manual and automated test tools and techniques. This role is expected to define what and how software should be tested to reach our goals for each product vertical, with input from Product, UX, and Engineering disciplines. You will ensure each product vertical defines and executes effective test plans that approximate user behavior of fans and creators. Your work will be depended on as a key signal on the quality of software during development, especially for production releases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In this position you will:

  • Lead test planning across multiple verticals and disciplines including Engineering,
    Product, User Experience, and validate code releases.

  • Hands-on experience of automated testing frameworks to complete GUI,
    integration, API, load, and performance testing. Produce bullet-proof code that is
    robust, efficient, and maintainable.

  • Define success metrics for your team, including reporting on the progress of test
    plans for all verticals. Summarize quality findings with recommendations on
    whether to ship to customers.

  • Set standards for defect reporting with clear reproduction steps and other relevant
    technical information.

  • Have a thorough understanding of the deployed infrastructure for each product
    vertical and ensure all tests are run as a part of continuous integration build and
    deployment pipelines.

  • Own continuous improvement mechanisms for QA and champion new testing
    techniques, with demonstrated examples of having done so in the past.

  • Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and
    debugging of customer issues with tools like DataDog. Participate in an on-call
    rotation and troubleshooting field issues.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • At least 3 years of experience as a director/manager and owner of all-up QA
    activity for a software engineering org, including test planning and execution.

  • 6+ years professional hands-on software development/testing experience with
    technology/language like Node js, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++, or Swift.

  • 3+ years building end to end test automation with frameworks used for web and
    native mobile user interfaces, API, load, scalability, and performance testing.

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience with continuous integration and
    deployment systems, with Kubernetes on cloud SaaS providers such as AWS.

Lead Front End Engineer
